Two questions for Mormons?

Filed in Category - Psalms Book Two

I am a practicing Catholic, but am not close-minded. I have read the Book of Mormon, having been told by Mormon missionaries that if I read it with an open mind and prayed for guidance, God would reveal to me that it truly is His word. Instead, after reading and prayer I had a bunch of suspicions about the book. Two of the easiest to repeat are:
1. During the exodus, pharao’s chariots were destroyed. Therefore, at the time of the exodus, the Israelites knew about the wheel. If a group of them left the middle east at a later date and settled in the Americas, why did native Americans know nothing of the wheel when Columbus arrived? I cannot fathom an entire civilization forgetting about the wheel.
2. If one searches the Bible for occurrences of the word, “smoke,” one finds that the only person who smokes in the Bible is God the Father, in Psalms 18 or 19, depending on which Bible translation you use. If God the Father smokes, why are Mormons are so opposed to smoking?

    FALSE PROPHECIES of Joseph Smith
It just takes one false prophesy to prove that a prophet is not from God. Below are two are the most famous “prophesies” of the Mormon religion, both of which have failed utterly to come to pass. They both come from the “Doctrine and Covenants”, which Mormons hold to be revelation on a par with the Book of Mormon itself.

    The false prophet, Joseph Smith
I have recently been reviewing many of the LDS books, magazines, documents, articles and pieces of correspondence we have gathered over the years. The material is vastly divergent but through it all is one central theme that leaps from the pages. I guess I’d call it the “How could anyone in their right mind believe that??” question.

Joseph smith was a prophet. Muhammad was a prophet. David Coresh was a prophet (of a cult). And there are a lot of prophets still coming out under the sun. Read about them if you may and you will see that they glorify their own selves as they praise God. They used God to coerce ignorant camels and horses so that they will fear God and believe. But we CATHOLICS do not have prophets instead we believe in the prophets of God as written in the Holy Bible and they never bragged or threatened, instead they touched people’s heart by humbling themselves before God. But, rejoice brother, for what we have are not prophets but the PROPHECY.

No offense, but the belief in superstitious myths by one group is just as valid as the belief in superstitious myths by another group.

Well for one thing you could have asked those questuons from the LDS missionaries and they might have the answer
but how many of us could remember to put a pc togetherin a few hundred years if technology was destroyed.

Are you serious about the other question ….Heavenly father smoking, no way

Your first question is quite easy to answer. First, the wheel was not forgotten in the Americas. Researchers have found wheeled toys in meso-america as well as potter wheels in south america. The idea that a culture can lose its technology in a short period of time has been historically proven. Go to Rome and see the ruins. When the barbarians destroyed the city and killed much of the people, they lost many technologies that had been used for years. They had to result to looting the ruins for ore, for example, because they no longer knew how to do it.

Your second question, I am assuming, is a joke since fire also came out of his mouth as well.
