You have to be a saint in Yahoo Answers if you want to avoid getting a violation. The system has its faults.

Well one of mine, “What made you happiest this Christmas?” – was reported and deleted for ‘no reason’ The same question I posted in the Christmas Section got me 12 very touching answers & 3 stars!
Another one about thanking everyone for being kind for not reporting me since I joined as a regular in R&S, was immediately reported, and question removed!
That’s the way it is! Don’t be bothered by cowards. - That’s about the most ridiculous thing I’ve read lately.
- That’s ok, I was reported once for not putting a question in question format, and I had a question mark there on the end and it was definitely in question format. So you never know.

it depends on the venue, but they use it all over the US.

Interesting, I am guessing religion sells there.
In my area the only background tunes I hear piped through are sea chanteys and whaling ballads, It’s quite common here, has anyone else notice that in their area?

That’s clearly a violation of the “report” system. Your question was on-topic, not offensive, etc. It sounds like somebody who doesn’t like Mormons got a little trigger-happy with the report button.
Don’t worry, it’s happened to all of us, but in Yahoo Answers reincarnation is a reality, so smile and ask away!
On your violation notice there is a link to appeal.
Send a brief, polite email back stating that you believe you have received a violation in error, and request that they correct this.
If that doesn’t work, you can then try the appeals forum.

Sounded like a question to me. I don’t know, some people are just “report happy”
welcome to life on y!a — there are a couple of nasties around who like to report mormons for being sweet and nice — and asking questions that support and uplift rather than give them an opportunity to spew their drivel… learn who to block
Your question is a valid question as far as I’m concerned, although to some it may be labeled as chatting. However, questions of this sort are asked all the time under “Polls & Surveys”. Maybe next time, you can ask “What are the favorite hymns of Mormons?” Although it comes off very impersonal this way, it is less likely to be construed as chatting.
I recently received a violation notice for providing (what I considered) a very appropriate answer to someone’s question. I appealed the violation, and a few days later I received a reply. However, the reply didn’t show any evidence that my appeal was read by anyone. I have copied and pasted our communication, if you care to read it:

I received my first violation notice today. It was labeled
“Solicitation”, but I was not soliciting anything. Someone asked the question, “What happened to the golden tablets Mormon church?” and I provided the most correct answer I could provide. My answer was:
In Joseph Smith’s own words… “At length the time arrived for obtaining the plates, the Urim and Thummim, and the breastplate. On the twenty-second day of September, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven, having gone as usual at the end of another year to the place where they were deposited, the same heavenly messenger delivered them up to me with this charge: That I should be responsible for them; that if I should let them go carelessly, or through any neglect of mine, I should be cut off; but that if I would use all my endeavors to preserve them, until he, the messenger, should call for them, they should be protected. I soon found out the reason why I had received such strict charges to keep them safe, and why it was that the messenger had said that when I had done what was required at my hand, he would call for them. For no sooner was it known that I had them, than the most strenuous exertions were used to get them from me. Every stratagem that could be invented was resorted to for that purpose. The persecution became more bitter and severe than before, and multitudes were on the alert continually to get them from me if possible. But by the wisdom of God, they remained safe in my hands, until I had accomplished by them what was required at my hand.
