Seious question for theists…?

Filed in Category - Learn To Sing Hymns

How much would you enjoy heaven, knowing that the God you’re busy singing praises to is busy torturing untold bilions, and will continue to do so for all eternity? Just consider: all those children whose parents raised them with another faith, and who never got a chance to learn about your version of the Word; your friends who had a crisis of faith and drifted away from the church; your wife or husband, who was married once before and got divorcecd before they met you — your god’s going to cast them, one and all into a lake of fire. They’ll suffer agony you can’t even conceive of, torment greater than the sum total of all the suffering of the whole human race all the way back to Adam and Eve. And even after all that, God will barely have even gotten warmed up! And all the while you’ll be singing hymns extolling his “mercy” and “compassion”….

Think you meant to address this to Christians.

Nice god you have there… luckily, that’s not the God of the Christians. Nor the God of the Jews for that matter, and I’m pretty sure Allah ain’t your god either.

Such a God is why I am not a Christian. I find it hard to believe that a person can be a good, just individual for the most part, and be sent to fiery torment because they don’t believe in the words of a prophet that no one alive today even has proof of. If you met me on the street would you say I was going to hell? Would I be evil? I should hope you wouldn’t think that way. If you do, you’re not truly Christian anyways.

It must really bug you that others have something to believe in.

“”who never got a chance to learn”"

All THOSE go immediately TO HEAVEN!

Only those who REJECT area doomed.

It would be nice if you did some study instead of just ranting…….

That is not what I believe. What if all the creator whats issee all his kids come to him in equivilance of form. Which menas the more we are like thim (positive atributs) the closer we are to him.

You’re assuming things that are not really true.

First, you’re assuming that God casts people into hell.

He does not. If anyone goes to hell, they go their because of the choices they make. They, in effect, send themselves there.

Just as violent felons are sent to prison — not really by the judge, but by themselves, due to their own willful acts.

Second, in my brand of Christianity (Roman Catholicism), it’s not true that people will necessarily go to hell if they’re not Christian.

The Catholic Church holds a teaching called “baptism of desire” — which holds that one can reach Heaven even if they’re not formally baptized Christians, provided that they seek God in all good conscience and strive to life a reasonably Christ-like life.

So, most of what you’re claiming is based on the above two misconceptions.

Not to sound patronizing or anything, but I suggest that you do your research on something before attacking it.

Hahaha That’s some fairy tale you’ve spun there. I don’t know what God you worship by my God doesn’t punish the innocent. If you are raised in a different faith and believe with all your heart that you are living your life as your higher power would want you to that will be taken into account. As far as those that have drifted away form the church or your wife or husband that that was divorced that is between them and the Lord. Everyone has the chance to repent and be forgiven it is their choice if they want to do it or not. I will still be singing praises at the top of my lungs. It is because of him that I have the chance to repent and have a second chance all over again. He is the one that delivered me from eternal hellfire and for that we can never repay him.

again theist seems to mean christian… so i cant answer …. again

Julia, your interpretation that God doesn’t send anyone to hell, but they choose it of their own free will is simply not scripturally accurate. Many times in the New testament we are told that there are some people who will want to get into heaven, but will be rejected by God for various reasons because they didn’t prove their faith sufficiently while on earth through their actions.

You should probably read the bible more carefully before you give your praise and devotion to such a vengeful being.

For the gazillionth time…there is NO BURNING HELL in the Bible!!!

    Fire means death., Rev. 20:14,…..

Really even in cremation the thing can’t burn to long!!

Isaiah 38:18 For it is not Sheol that can laud you, death itself cannot praise you. Those going down into the pit cannot look hopefully to your trueness.

Eccl.9:5 For the living are conscious they will die, but as for the dead, they are conscious of NOTHING at all,..

Jeremiah 32: 35 ..they built high places to Ba’al..in order to make their sons and their daughters pass through the FIRE to Mo’lech, a thing that I did NOT command them, neither did it come up into my heart to do this detestable thing, for the purpose of making Judah sin….(God said)

  14. Your hero until you meet Jesus on August 14, 2010 4:32 pm

That right there gives us all the more reason to lead our loved ones to Christ. I mean, only man can choose his fate, but a little intervention never hurts. That is the worst thing about being a christian, that we know many of our loved ones will forever be facing damnation, and that gives us drive to help them be saved. And no matter who we lose, or what ever wrath God sees fit for each man, nothing will be able to make us happier than to stand at the feet of Jesus and praise Him. Also, it is biblical, yet controversial, that after Jesus’ thousand year reign here on earth, He will beat Satan, and over throw Hell, freeing ALL souls to eternally worship the father.

I don’t believe God will torture every evil being for all eternity, I believe it will only be for the amount of sins they did in their lifetime. If you sinned alot you’ll burn until all your sins are paid for and if you did not that much sin you’ll only burn for a short time.
