Okay so me and my friend got pretty close and he soon became my best friend. I told him everything and trusted him completely. I liked him for about 3 months before I said anything to him. We started going out on the a couple of days after Christmas and for about a week we were fine but then he stopped trusting people and stopped talking to me, about anything. I don’t know what to do, I try talking to him but it just doesn’t work. I don’t know whether he wants me to leave him alone or what. After a week all I get is song lyrics or something and I can’t seem to find something he finds interesting. I don’t know whether to end it or wait until after I see him next and see how we are together?

He doesn’t have a best friend. I don’t think he considers me his best friend and he really doesn’t think the same about me. I’ve spoken to him about it already and all he’s said is that “we’re drifting apart lmfao” which tbh, I didn’t find funny but you know. I’ve tried leaving him alone, nothing’s working. Christmas gift for my parents?

I feel as though a little background is necessary before I come out and ask my question.
My parents and I do not really have much of a relationship. I’m rarely home and we don’t speak very much. We don’t argue or anything, there just isn’t much there are far as parent/child relationships go. They don’t really agree with many of the choices I have made, such as my decision to discontinue college. Regardless, they don’t really ridicule me too much for it either. They have no idea why I have made some of the decisions I’ve made, and I want to help them understand. The bands Bayside and Cloud Cult have changed the way I live life in so many ways that they can not even begin to be counted.
I had this idea to burn a few cds with songs that have personally affected me. The lyrics of these songs, if listened to, would practically paint a clear picture for my parents as to why I am the way I am. What I would want my parents to take away from this gift would be just to accept me more… and possibly even allow the music to change them.
It is a very emotional gift idea… for instance, some of the lyrics to the songs would explain a lot of things about me that my parents are clueless and have no idea about. Do you think this would be a good gift? Or too much to handle?
my parents are open minded… and i think that if i asked them to listen, they would. they’re not close minded, i’m not concerned in that aspect. and a photo frame would not convey anything in my eyes. but thanks anyway.

One of my favourite films/books is High Fidelity (I’m going to refer to the film as I’ve seen this more recently) and like the characters in that I suppose I had somewhat romantic notions of dating a musician.
My ex boyfriend played in 2 bands and completely disspelled any such notions! We’d be out in a restaurant and I’d be mid-sentence when he’d suddenly stop me because he had a ‘tune in his head’ and he wanted to borrow my eyeliner/lipstick so he could jot it down on a napkin… Similarly, we could have been watching a DVD in his flat when he’d suddenly jump up and grab his guitar and start strumming. Everytime we listened to a CD he’d comment on the ‘finger-picking guitar techniques’ or something of that ilk… He’d often (quite randomly and without warning) just burst into song. My ex also had the idea that him and his band would one day ‘be discovered’ though they only played in local venues – last big idea was to release a Christmas song in order to gain prominence and local radio play (couldn’t see it happening really – the lyrics contained the line “All Santa’s elves are stupid wh*res”) but obviously I smiled and nodded in an encouraging manner!…
I was chatting to a guy at work recently who hasn’t worked here too long. When I asked about his hobbies he remarked that he’s in a band and then started telling me about what music they play. I’ve since been in the staff room on my lunch break a few times when he’s there and all he seems able to talk about is his band. He also seems to do the thing of just randomly bursting into song, and if you ask him what he’s singing he’ll respond 9 times out of 10 with “Ahh, just some lyrics I’m currently working on.”
Are all musicians like this? I’m all for being dedicated to a cause but to the extend that you can’t seem to talk about anything else? Do you all think you’re going to get signed or do any of you just play/gig for fun?

Last year for my boyfriends christmas I got him a personalised guitar pick with his initals on one side and his favourite song lyrics on the other. I also got him a thermal mug with the molecular structure for coffee printed on it (he’s a bit of a heavy metal geek type lol). I want to get him something personalised again this year, but I’m short on ideas.
