I need a pretty song to sing at a wedding!?

Filed in The Category - Learn To Sing Hymns

The wedding is in two weeks, which is plenty of time for me to learn a song. This is my older sister’s wedding, and I’m going to sing while people are being seated and stuff. Something sweet I guess. I’m a first soprano in 2 choirs so i can handle the harder pieces, but I have no idea of what i should do. I was thinking a traditional hymn, but I’m not so sure since the groom isn’t super religious.

Christians: How can you explain the numerous errors in the Bible?

Filed in The Category - Psalms Book Three

CHRISTIANITY IS NOT THE TRUTH!! That is the only explanation.

There are many scientific mistakes in the Bible. Wannna listen to a few?

1-The Bible says in chapter 1, verses 3-5, of Genesis that the phenomenon of day and night was created on the first day of creation of the Universe by God. The light circulating in the universe is the result of a complex reaction in the stars; these stars were created according to the Bible (Genesis chapter 1 verse 14 to 19) on the fourth day. It is illogical to mention the result that is the light (the phenomenon of day and night) was created on the first day of Creation when the cause or source of the light was created three days later.

2-According to the Bible, Book of Genesis, chapter 1, verses 9 to 13, the earth was created on the third day, and as per verses 14 to 19, the sun and the moon were created on the fourth day. The earth and the moon emanated, as we know, from their original star, the Sun. Hence to place the creation of the sun and the moon after the creation of the earth is contrary to the established idea about the formation of the solar system.

3-According to the Bible, Book of Genesis, chapter 1, verses 11-13, vegetation was created on the third day along with seed-bearing grasses, plants and trees; and further on as per verses 14-19, the sun was created on the fourth day. How is it scientifically possible for the vegetation to have appeared without the presence of the sun, as has been stated in the Bible?

4-The Biblical description of the flood in Genesis chapter 6, 7 and 8 indicates that the deluge was universal and it destroyed every living thing on earth, except those present with Noah (pbuh) in the ark. The description suggests that the event took place 1656 years after the creation of Adam (pbuh) or 292 years before the birth of Abraham, at a time when Noah (pbuh) was 600 years old. Thus the flood may have occurred in the 21st or 22nd Century B.C.
This story of the flood, as given in the Bible, contradicts scientific evidence from archaelogical sources which indicate that the eleventh dynasty in Egypt and the third dynasty in Babylonia were in existence without any break in civilisation and in a manner totally unaffected by any major calamity which may have occurred in the 21st century B.C. This contradicts the Biblical story that the whole world had been immersed in the flood water.

5-either the world will perish or the world will live forever. Both cannot take place simultaneously – It is unscientific. But this is exactly what the Bible says. It is mentioned in the Bible, in the book of Hebrews, Ch. No.1 Verses No.10 and 11, and the book of Psalms, Ch. No.102, Verse No.25 and 26, that…‘Almighty God created the Heavens and the Earth, and they will perish.’ Exactly opposite is mentioned in the book of Ecclesiastics, Ch. No.1, Verse No.4, and the book of Psalms, Ch. No.78, Verse No.69, that… ‘The earth will abide forever.’

6-Regarding ‘the Heavens’, the Bible says in Job, Ch. 26, Verse 11, that…‘The pillars of the Heaven will tremble.’Bible says heaven have got pillars. Not only do the Heavens have got pillars – Bible says in the first book of Samuel, Ch. No.2 Verses No.8, as well as the book of Job Ch. No.9, Verse No.6, and the book of Psalms Ch. No.75, Verse No.3, that… ‘Even the earth has got pillars.’

7-Leviticus, Ch. No.12 Verse No.1 to 5, says that… ‘After a woman gives birth to a male child, she will be unclean for 7 days, and the period of uncleanliness will continue for 33 days more. It she give birth to a female child, she will be unclean for two weeks, and the period of uncleanliness will continue for 66 days. In short, if a woman gives birth to a male child… ‘a son’, she is unclean for 40 days. If she gives birth to a female child… ‘a daughter’, she is unclean for 80 days. Can u expalin scientifically, how come a woman remains unclean for double the period, if she gives birth to a female child, as compared to a male child?

8-, in Ezra Ch. No. 2, Verse No. 65, it says…There were 200 singing men and women – Nehemiah Ch. No. 7, Verse No. 67…‘There were 245 singing men and women.’ Were they 200 – or were they 245 singing men and women?

9-It is mentioned in the 2nd Kings, Ch. No 24, Verse No 8, that…‘Jehoiachin was 18 years old, when he began to reign Jerusalem, and he reigned for 3 months and 10 days. 2nd Chronicles, Ch. No 36, Verse No 9, says that…‘Jehoiachin was 8 years old when he began to reign and he reigned for 3 months, 10 days. Was Jehoiachin 18 years when he began to reign, or was he 8 years old? Did he reign for 3 months, or did he reign for 3 months 10 days?

10-it is mentioned in the 1st Kings, Ch. No 7, Verse No 26, that…‘In Solomon’s temple, in his molten sea, he had 2000 baths. In 2nd Chronicles, Ch. No 4, Verse No 5, he had 3000 baths. Did he have 2000 baths or did he have 3000 baths?

AND YOU SAY THAT CHRISTIANITY IS THE TRUTH????

Why haven’t black people published an accurate account of the Holy Scriptures?

Filed in The Category - Psalms Book Four

Have you heard of the Bible Experience? A group of black personalities (the descendants of the Israelites) came together to read all the books contained in the European translation of the OT Bible, which includes four hocus-pocus books. Now if they can do that, surely they’d find it easy to publish an ACCURATE account of the scriptures – written by Israelites for the Israelites.

An accurate account of the scriptures would omit the hocus-pocus books of Ruth, Esther, Job and Jonah which were added by foreigners to give hope to foreigners yet are contrary to true scripture – Ruth: Deuteronomy 23:3-6. Esther: 2 Chronicles 16:7-9. Job: Psalms 5:4. Jonah: 1 Samuel 15:29. An accurate account would omit words with the letter “J” since this letter doesn’t exist in the Hebrew alphabet. An accurate account would have the true names of people and places and would omit the word Satan since neither God nor his prophets mentioned it.

If such a book were published, I’d stand in line for it.
In regards to the books of Ruth, Esther, Job and Jonah – CHECK THE SCRIPTURES PEOPLE. I didn’t add them for fun, they were added to prove my point.

How do you feel about remixing secular music, changing the lyrics to make it gospel?

Filed in The Category - Gospel Lyrics

The church I used to go to would do this a lot, especially with the kids. I’m talking about rap songs that are on the radio, some of the original lyrics were so vulgar, a good Christian wouldn’t want people to know that they listen to that music.

Ramadan: Whats the difference between the 5 pillars of Islam & the 6 pillars of faith?

Filed in The Category - Psalms Book Four

I always thought they were exactly the same concept, just rephrased differently ..but I found out they’re actually different ..can you explain

here are the pillars of faith?

1- Faith in Allah (SWT):
The first of the pillars of faith is to have faith in Allah (SWT). A Muslim, first, believes that Allah (SWT) does exist and is One; this universe is a work of His. He has no partner or match either in His Person, or in His attributes, and His actions. His attributes do not resemble those of the creatures.

2- Faith in Angels:
Another pillar of faith is to have faith in angels. Allah Almighty has incorporeal beings called angels. These beings glorify Allah Almighty, besides they perform other duties consigned to them. These beings, who never rebel against Allah, are not bound to test; their natures are pure, they are sinless and their places (before Allah) are stable.

3- Faith in Books:
One of the pillars of faith is to have faith in Divine Books. Although man knows the existence and Oneness of Allah Almighty through reason, he cannot know what His orders and prohibitions are, how he can perform his duty of worship for Him, in short what Allah Almighty is pleased with, and not. For this reason, Allah Almighty sent down the Divine Books. One hundred of the Divine Books came in the form of scriptures while the four came in the form of books. These four Divine Books, in sequence, are The Psalm of David, The Torah, The Bible, and The Qur’an.

4- Faith in Prophets:
Another pillar of faith is to have faith in prophets. That Allah Almighty warns people with a prophet who is himself a human being is a divine law.

Faith in the Hereafter: One of the most important pillars of faith is to have faith in resurrection after death and in the life in the Hereafter. Allah Almighty, who bestows both material and heavenly bounties upon them in this worldly life, will be bestowing again both material and heavenly infinite bounties upon His servants who passed the test on earth.

6- Faith in ‘Predestination and Decree’:
One of the pillars of faith is to have faith in Qadar (Predestination and Decree) is examined in two ways. The first; the ordaining and creation of all beings in the knowledge of Allah (SWT) in terms of “person, shape, and all features.” This field is out of testing.

How do Christian psychologists deal with homosexual clients?

Filed in The Category - Christian Deals

According to many psychologists and psychiatrists, homosexuality is not a sickness. However, many Christians refer to homosexuality as “something that is not natural”. Most Christians believe that it is just curiosity at a certain stage of life that leads a person to become homosexual. If a psychologist is Christian, what do they say to their clients? On one hand, their profession tells them that homosexuality is not a mental disease. On the other hand, their religion tells them that homosexuality is against the nature. Although I understand that most professionals in this field can seperate between work and their own religion, there are conflicting roles and conflicts of interests. Do psychologists support their gay clients or are they against them?

Are there any good Religious Lyricists who are seeking a Composer out there?

Filed in The Category - Christmas Hymn Lyrics

I am looking for persons that may have religious lyrics, in English, that they would be interested in sharing, as a collaboration project. I am looking for both lyricists and librettist, as I am working on composing a Hymnal and possibly an Oratorio or Cantatas based on a Bible story. Christmas and Easter Pagent themes are usually most utilized, but there are many other Bible stories that could be used. The length should be moderate, as large works are not of interest to publishers. All credits would be given in all cases and make certain that you have your work copyrighted. If you don’t know how to go about copyrighting them, I would be glad to assist you in the process. I would be composing the music in both traditional hymn forms and Baroque and Classical styles. Thanks for any help!

I believe this is a Catholic hymn.
I have the first verse and the chorus:

As the body of the Lord is broken for us,
We proclaim His death til He comes,
As the blood of the Lord is poured out for us,
We proclaim His death til He comes,

Chorus:
Jesus Christ is risen and we His people are forgiven,
We eat the holy sacrifice in the presence of the Lord.

Beginning of the cosmos, opinion?

The best data we have (concerning the big bang) are exactly what I would have predicted, had I nothing to go on but the five books of Moses, the Psalms, the Bible as a whole.

the dangers of interpreting the Bible too literally?

Filed in The Category - Psalms Book Four

St. Augustine warns about taking the Bible too literally, he took the view that the Biblical text should not be interpreted as properly literal, but rather as metaphorical, if it contradicts what we know from science and our God-given reason, particularly when the Scripture in question is a book of poetry and songs, not a book of instructions or history; while each passage of Scripture has a literal sense, this “literal sense” does not always mean that the Scriptures are mere history; at times they are rather an extended metaphor; the writers of the Scripture wrote from the perspective of the terrestrial world…

An example of taking the Bible too literally is the Flat-earthers and the Flat Earth Society…

“If the Bible said it’s flat, then it must be flat…” is an answer I got from a Flat-earther, but I personally think Flat-earthers misinterpreted and took the Bible too literally…

Samuel Rowbotham supported the notion of a flat Earth, based on literal interpretation of certain biblical passages. After Rowbotham’s death in 1884, his followers established the Universal Zetetic Society. In 1956, Samuel Shenton took over the Universal Zetetic Society, which would later become the Flat Earth Society. The Flat Earth Society took the position that the Apollo Moon landings were a hoax, because the photos of Earth taken from Apollo 8 was spherical and not flat. The Flat Earth Society still exists today under president Daniel Shenton…

These are Bible references that the Flat Earth Society think supports the notion of a flat Earth, because if taken literally, according to Flat-earthers, the Bible says the Earth is a flat circle, the Earth has ends, edges and four corners, the Bible tells about a tree so high that it was visible from the ends of the Earth, the Earth is set on pillars and cannot move, I personally think Flat-earthers misinterpreted and took the Bible too literally, what do you think?

Isaiah 40:22: He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth…
Isaiah 11:12: …the four quarters of the earth.
Revelation 7:1: …I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth…
Job 38:13: …that it might take the earth by the edges…
Jeremiah 16:19: …the nations will come from the ends of the earth…
Daniel 4:11: The tree grew large and strong and its top touched the sky; it was visible to the ends of the earth.
Psalm 93:1 and Psalm 96:10: …the world is firmly established, it cannot be moved…
Psalm 104:5: He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.
Job 9:6: He shakes the earth from its place and makes its pillars tremble.
Job 38:4: “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand.
Job 37:3: He unleashes his lightning beneath the whole heaven and sends it to the ends of the earth.
Job 28:24: for he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.
1 Samuel 2:8: For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s; upon them he has set the world.
