Is There Anyone Who Like Me Out There Who Prefers When Going To Church A ”traditional” Anglican Or Methodist

church,instead of these extreme ”Happy Clappy” type churches with loud bands like your charismatic and pentecostal churches.Am i the only one out there that prefers the Traditional church with the lovely old church buildings,and all the lovely old hymns with a choir and church organ and a proper liturgical service.I’m not been old fashioned am i in prefering ”Proper” church services,i’m only in my early fortys,but i hate all these so called ”Happy Clappy” churches with a loud band.To me thats not what i call A ”Proper church service”These so called Charismatic/Evangelical and Pentecostal churches are just ”Entertainment Centres”,its not ”Proper” church at all.Is there anyone else who feels like me out there?or am i an odd one out,in not liking these modern types of churches.Surely there must be someone out there who feels like me.Give me a ”Traditional”church any day,with a ”Traditional’’service with all the old hymns,the liturgy,choir,organ and yes even incense ANGIE,UK

I feel the same way…if I want to go to a rock concert, I’ll go to a music club.
There is nothing more or less proper about one service vs. another, as long as it is respectful and everyone is there to worship together. Of course you have your preference, but that doesn’t make your opinion right and others’ wrong. These “so-called” churches and “entertainment centers” are still filled with people there all doing the same thing, which is ultimately good, right?
More than likely you were accepted out of love, perhaps all you chose to see was your own self-serving ideology?

I actually prefer a liturgical Anglican service, and tend to avoid free churches, although I was brought up in one of them. I am not all that sentimental about the outward things, like the music/organ/old building etc… but the advantage of a liturgy is that we are delivered from the situation where evrything that is said in the service is thought up by the person leading the service, and places the content of the service more within the boundaries of the truths of Christianity as passed down the generations.
Me…but once in awhile I like to be expressive.
Takes all sorts of people to make a society and it would be dull if we were all the same, but God came to show us acceptance and love – its lovely to go to an anglican service with the written responses and beautiful architecture, but it is also great to attend a lively church that is constantly changing songs – because it says in the psalms sing unto the lord a new song, I feel that is good. My daughter attends a “reAL”trad church im a happy clappy and I go to a “real” church too. Its what goes on in your life with God that matters.

i say to each his own.of course there are people who like church the way you do. and then there are those who would call it stuffy, just as you call the others “happy clappy” or “not proper”. but if you are just asking for others that like it like you do, of course there is. no need to make fun of how others wish to worship though. at least they are still going to church. some don’t go at all.
Well, the incense is very high church, but I think there’s a place for everything. It’s how you feel comfortable worshipping, rather than there being a “right” way and a “wrong” way. Bear in mind, Hymns Ancient and Modern met with opposition when it was introduced in the 19th century, by people complaining it was too modern! I’ve been in some lively traditional churches, and some happy clappy one that seem dull by comparison…
Yes, plenty. But of course they make less noise about it.
