I keep hearing from many televangelists that we Jews are automatically saved whether we believe or not. What if I don’t wanna go up there and sing hymns and serve some dictator in the sky for eternity?

As a Jew and an atheist, the concept of being ‘saved’ is meaningless to you – as it is to me. We don’t believe in ‘original sin’, thus we don’t need to be ‘saved’.
So it doesn’t matter WHAT any televangelist says. It’s just their view. Judaism says that the moral of ALL faiths will go to heaven, or rather ‘gan eden’, the garden of eden.
And before anyone incorrectly jumps in, let me pre-empt them: yes, one CAN be a Jewish atheist, because to do so is NOT violating Torah. A Jewish atheist is NOT worshipping other deities nor worshipping a human. Thus, no conflict.
Answer: yes. Also, this reminds me of one of my favorite stories:
Rabbi Moshe Leib said:
“There is no quality and there is no power of man that was created to no purpose. And even base and corrupt qualities can be uplifted to serve God. When, for example, haughty self-assurance is uplifed it changes into a high assurance in the ways of God. But to what end can the denial of God have been created? This too can be uplifted through deeds of charity. For if someone comes to you and asks your help, you shall not turn him out with pious words, saying: ‘Have faith and take your troubles to God!’ You shall act as if there were no God, as if there were only one person in all the world who could help this man–only yourself.”
This is just IMHO but I believe that when our body dies our soul, spirit, essence, energy entity, moves on to the next classroom. EArth is a classroom. It is NOT the ONLY one. Nature is always interested in improvement. To stick someone in heaven or hell is non-productive. When we Ascend in 2012 we will graduate from the 3D to the 5th dimensionality. We will have graduated from grammar school and will be high schoolers. We will FINALLY be accepted on a galactic scale as young students.

Our schooling HAS JUST BEGUN! There IS no time for heaven or hell. Once we have attained all knowledge and have “joined with the other gods” we will have time to kick back in heaven. That time is a LONG way off!
You’re safe for now. No choir for you!
Peace … Hosanna on the highest
I wonder if there could be a revolt against God in heaven… install a republic with a parliament and all. Geesh go further than that, just have direct ballot for all members.
Perhaps then stuff would finally get done and religion wouldn’t be big in the ‘greatest promise of false hopes’ (quoting George Carlin).
Do you want to go to heaven? If not, I’ll gladly go in your place, give me your birthright, I know how to use it right.
Seems to me that you are suffering from the Jonah Syndrome, what are you expecting.. a big fish to swallow you up?
May be you are all ready inside the stomach of the whale,
ever think of that?
You’re out of luck, accident of birth, poor sod.
I think I have the same problem. An Orthodox Jewish coworker once told me I am going to heaven because of how I live my life. I don’t even know how to keep Kosher.
Wow. I am so impressed you are jewish. Good for you. You should pat yourself on the back. No, jews are not special and do not automatically go to Heaven. Sorry.
You must take in knowledge and learn what God requires of you…in order to escape the calamity due on the earth
If you are happy as you are…do nothing…
Not according to Judaism.
Yes, “ALL ISRAEL SHALL BE SAVED”!!!
You have no choice in this matter…!!!
NO FREE WILL FOR YOU…!!!
…and you go to bed tonight without eating your dessert!
when god tries to touch you, run.
that’ll save you a spot in hell
Jesus himself said that “he that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life.”—John 3:36, Authorized Version (AV); 1 John 5:13. “Let any one who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.” Yes, it could happen, even to “saved” ones!—1 Cor. 10:1-12, RSV. Satan the Deceiver is the one who is responsible for some Christians’ thinking that once they have believed on the Lord Jesus, have been baptized and have entered upon the way of salvation they are saved for all time without any possibility of losing eternal life by unfaithfulness. However, not the one putting on his weapons may boast, “but he that has endured to the finish is the one that will be saved.”—1 Ki. 20:11, AT; Matt. 24:13; 2 Tim. 4:7, 8, NW. “he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.”—Matthew 24:13. JESUS CHRIST on one occasion told certain Pharisees: “Every sort of sin and blasphemy [abusive speech; slander; impious word] will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him.” (Matt. 12:31, 32; An American Translation; The New English Bible; Weymouth) 14?And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a sound out of heaven as the sound of many waters and as the sound of loud thunder; and the sound that I heard was as of singers who accompany themselves on the harp playing on their harps. 3 And they are singing as if a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one was able to master that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who have been bought from the earth. 4 These are the ones that did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins. These are the ones that keep following the Lamb no matter where he goes. These were bought from among mankind as firstfruits to God and to the Lamb, 5 and no falsehood was found in their mouths; they are without blemish. Revelation 14:1-5. I would say chances are greater that you will be an earth dweller as long as you are no blaspheming Holy Spirit. May I encouage you to read and meditate on the scriptures I have offered. When we knock, answer and invite us in as our message is life giving.
How about Living right here on earth? This is a Promise…
In a description of “the time of the end,” the prophet Daniel foretold quite a different development among God’s people—a revival of religious truth. He wrote: “Many will rove about, and the true knowledge will become abundant.” (Daniel 12:4) Jehovah’s people are not confused or blinded by the great Deceiver. Roving through the pages of the Bible, they have come to acquire true knowledge. In the first century, Jesus enlightened his disciples. He “opened up their minds fully to grasp the meaning of the Scriptures.” (Luke 24:45) In our day, Jehovah has acted similarly. Through his Word, his spirit, and his organization, he has enabled millions throughout the earth to understand what he already knows—the truth.
As God’s people, we understand many things that we could not otherwise have known. We know the answers to questions that worldly-wise men have grappled with for millenniums. For example, we know why suffering exists, why people die, and why humans cannot achieve global peace and unity. We have also been blessed with a vision of what the future holds—the Kingdom of God, a paradise earth, and endless life in perfection. We have come to know Jehovah, the Supreme One. We have learned about his appealing personality along with what we must do to enjoy his blessing. Knowing the truth enables us to recognize what is not true. Applying the truth protects us from fruitless pursuits, enables us to get the best out of life, and gives us a marvelous hope for the future.
Do you understand Bible truth? If so, you have been richly blessed. When an author writes a book, he or she usually fashions it to appeal to a specific group of people. Some books are written for the highly educated, others for children, still others for those in specialized fields. While the Bible is easily available to all, it is meant to be understood and appreciated by a particular group of people. Jehovah crafted it for the humble, the meek ones of the earth. Such people can grasp the sense of the Bible, whatever their education, culture, station in life, or ethnic group. (1 Timothy 2:3, 4) On the other hand, an understanding of Bible truth is denied to those not rightly disposed, no matter how intelligent or educated they may be. The haughty, the proud, cannot grasp the precious truths of God’s Word. (Matthew 13:11-15; Luke 10:21; Acts 13:48) Only God could produce such a book.
According to John 1:9, the answer is no; you will die a second death in a place descriptively called the lake of fire where there will weeping and mourning and gnashing of teeth because you rejected Jesus and missed being saved from having to go to that place. John 1:9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Atheist and Jewish is a contradiction of terms, isn’t it? If you are atheist, you cannot be jewish, and vice versa.
And since when do you start listening to the opinions of ‘televangelists’?
