How to learn how to sing in SATB format?

Filed in Category - Learn To Sing Hymns

Hello,
I am a very musically gifted person (instrumentally), and I know that I can re-sing pitches on the piano when they are played. I used to sing a lot as a child, but after my voice started changing I have never been able to sing again. I am over 17 years of age, but I am going to have to sing with chorals in the next years. I am not a tenor, because I can’t sing that high, and I can sing most bass notes, but not all. I wanted to know, is there any way that I can learn how to sing bass parts? Especially in songs like hymns?

If this makes any sense, I would appreciate an answer!
Thanks!

LOL ur probably a Baritone (aka, 2nd tenor) honey…I recommend taking voice lessons, and learning to harmonize. Hope this helps.

it doesn’t matter if you can’t hit the notes, just have fun with it. however, seeing how you are a guy and all, you will need to know how to read music. trust me, your teacher will appreciate that greatly. i’ve linked you to a chart that shows you all the notes on a bass clef, which is what you’ll be reading. either way, read it, familiarize yourself with it, and practice your range. by that, i mean do warm ups every day or so, and sing up and down the scale over and over again. then shift up a note and do it again until you’ve reached the top of your register. then do it for your lower notes. in no time you’ll be able to sing higher and lower notes. have fun!
