Do you love the really old hymns as much as I do?

There’s lots of great modern Christian music, but the really old hymns such as, “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” are so incredibly profound and touching. What are some of your favorite old hymns?

I need to find songs for Christmas at my church (I’m the organist), but I’m getting tired of all the standard ones like silent night, o holy night, joy to the world etc. I was just wondering if anyone knew some less well known hymns or pretty hymns/songs or more modern ones.

some of the ones I really like are: ‘men from the fields’ and ‘one small child’, etc so if that helps you know what I’m looking for?

also if you find Irish Christmas music (Gaelic or English) much appreciated
and links to get free sheet music are also appreciated although not needed

Why is Music from catholicism, mainline protestant and orthodox music so terrible?

They use beatless chants, slow organ hymns, difficult choral music mostly in latin, German, Greek and other weird languages.
Plus, way too many are written in a minor key.
Even the modern catholic music sounds like old hymns mixed with some slow folk songs.

In the 1924 edition of “Hymns Ancient and Modern” there is a fifth verse which reads as follows:

To Christ who won for sinners, grace
By bitter grief and anguish sore
Be praise from all the ransomeed race
For ever and for ever more.

Does any one know what happened to these words, sometime after 1924? Why were they discontinued as the finale of this hymn? Do you have the answer?

Which digital piano is the better choice?

Which is better? Yamaha Arius YDP140 or Casio Celviano AP200. I will be using it for personal use to play classics, hymns, and modern worship music. While having more bells and whistles make it more fun, if I have to choose, I would rather have one with better touch and the most acoustic-like sound with no extras.

My Church would appeal to telecommunications engineers, worship the TelecomsTowerGod and have SystemOfADown’s Kill Rock N Roll song as the entrance hymn. Followers would have to donate 3.142% of their monthly income to the Church and wear a plumber’s suit during masses.

I am a 37 year old female who always wanted to produce my own worship cd. Having no experience but is passionate in singing traditional hymns since early childhood. I know I still need voice training but realize that I would never know what its like if I don’t try. Most of the ancient & modern hymns I know by heart all versus. I also sing & feel more passionately with the organ and or any musical background. Singing hymns is my way of speaking to God and feeling closer to God. I would like to sing in cathedral one day but I’m too shy to make a first step. I read the previous answer of someone saying that record companies won’t even look at me without previous experience-well it does put me off to a certain degree, but for some reason I still believe if you really want to do something and believe in it, you can achieve it. Maybe sometimes you allow circumstances (being in a new country & finance) to limit your dreams & passions. Please advise.
