Personally, I think everything is boring for eternity not just heaven. Our life on earth is only about 75 years and it is sometimes boring. Agree or disagree.

What are the lyrics to A friend once told me that the concept of heaven is boring…a hymn book, a halo and some wings for eternity?

Disagree. I’ll take boring over what I think the alternative will be.
Oh great.
Thanks for attracting the Bible Bumpers.
Anyway, I disagree.
“Boredom” itself is just a lack of something to do.
It’s ridiculously easy for find something to do that you like if you know where to look.
Seriously, you know, life is long enough. The myth that we should live for something greater AFTER life just makes me laugh..
I’d have to agree; eternity is an awful long time. Of course those of us who belong to the church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster are taught that heaven has a beer volcano and a stripper factory, so maybe you just have to conceptualize the right afterlife.
I hope to God there is an afterlife, because this life is hella boring! And I’m not sure who said those in Heaven will have hymn books, halo’s, and wings. Angel’s have halo’s and wings, but we’re humans, not angels. People need to learn how to read books… God help us all…
I guess it can be boring, but then again, if we lived for an eternity after we died, whats the point of living? and wouldnt heaven and hell be over populated? and it wouldnt nescarily be boring because there would be all those people to do things with, and you could make more friends then ever possible on earth.. right?
lol Boring? Um, no, I don’t think so.
Heaven, from what I’ve read, is going to be the most amazing of places where no negative emotions can be felt (including boredom!) So no, I think your friend is dead wrong. Even if it is just “a hymn book, a halo, and some wings for eternity,” you’ll get to spend the rest of your life with the people you love and the Creator of everything! How sweet is that?!
yeah,,, that concept of heavens a bit boring…. so make ur own on earth….. do things because u want to…. not coz ur told to… make ur own way in life…then whatevr comes nxt is like a new adventure
Yeah, well, that’s a childish vision of what heaven would be like, based on nothing but someone’s imagination.
There is, of course, the question of living for eternity as an aware person, and what one is going to do for all that time? (Of course that part would theoretically end with the reverse of the Big Bang (that is, The Big Crunch).
And speaking of “childish visions,” (here I speak as a UCC minister) almost everything we teach about religion is aimed at a 6-year-old mind! No wonder so many people, when they become adults and start thinking as adults, dump their church and claim to be “agnostics.”
Nah, I disagree, life is anything but boring. Your friend had some issues. Each day is sufficient unto itself, so I take it one day at a time. I like the way Janis Joplin put it….”yesterday is gone, and tommorrow doesn’t exist…”. I will worry about the particulars of heaven or hell when the time come. For now it is enough to make each day a decision….do I serve God or not? The rest is B.S.
