If a person writes and composes a new hymn it can never be used as that would mean revising millions of hymn books to include it. Is there another way that the hymn could be adopted??

Most hymns are selected because of their popularity within the denomination for whom the hymnal is targeted. To get your hymn to be considered for inclusion, it needs to be popular enough to be noticed.
Distribute the hymn as sheet music, with or without an accompanying midi/mp3 file.
When you have written twenty or so (sixty to seventy minutes of singing time) cut a CD, and then distribute it.
Market it to choir directors in medium size to large churches. [Choirs often perform hymns that are later taken up by that church as a whole.)
Get with a group of other people who write hymns, and publish a new hymnal.
Start your own book ..!
What some churches do is use like 3 ringed binders or duotangs for their hymn books. that way, they can be updated all the time
I also know some other ones just print a new book every year or every 6 months or whatever.
Actually every person who write a hymn has a copyright for the music and lyrics if they are smart and own them. They do revise hymnals quite often and they also publish sheet music and songbooks so it is quite possible if the hymn is good and the Lord blesses that it will be published.
Our church buys new hymnals every several years or so. They wear out over time and need to be replaced.
Those new editions of hymnals often DO include new hymns and praise and worship songs. Often times, though, those new hymns / songs had already become popular, usually because a recording artist had made it popular.
It would probably be on Christian radio, then purchased through cd’s and then sung in Churches.
Fifty years from now, it may be a hymn, who knows?
They may use it on your church.
Wow a new hymn, this is great, we can always use those! Have your church adopt it as their own, and pray about it. Prayer is always the best, this way God can do with it what He wants. He has a special place for it.

I would say, look for outlets that distribute new music to church choirs. If the church likes it, they may order it for their entire congregation.
That wouldn’t be that big of a problem.
New Churches are starting all the time.
And hymnals do wear out.

my church hasnt used hymnals in many years,,,,,worship has been so good …we still do the old hymns at times…but are freer in worship now…..
